About the Bride & Groom

Trish Merriman

I grew up all over Washington State, living mostly in Shoreline and Ellensburg, and later on the south end of Whidbey Island. My childhood was filled with beachcombing and kayaking trips with my dad and yearly summer vacations to visit family in New Hampshire. I graduated from South Whidbey High School in 2005, receiving the National School Choral Award and Director's Choice Award.

After graduating in June 2009 from Whatcom Community College with my Associate of Arts in Visual Communications, I began working as a graphic designer at The Lones Group, Inc., helping to create marketing packages and websites for Realtors all over the state.

In my spare time, I enjoy knitting, crocheting, ballroom dancing, photography, building websites for fun, and singing in the car.

For the first ten years of my life, I lived on a dairy farm north of Bellingham where I enjoyed riding on tractors, pretending to drive tractors, playing with toy tractors, and pretending my bicycle was a tractor. After moving off the farm, I started to gain interest in computers -- particularly software programming. I wrote my first program at age eleven, and haven't stopped since.

After graduating from Meridian High School in 2001, I went to Whatcom Community College for two years, then transferred to Western Washington University for three more years to complete my Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. Meanwhile, I had started working as an intern at Attachmate Corporation's Bellingham office two years prior to graduation, and became a full-time employee three months prior to graduation. I recently finished my fifth year at Attachmate.

In my spare time, I enjoy programming creative projects (such as an operating system), flying airplanes (mostly simulated or radio-controlled at this point), and especially watching documentaries while cuddled with Trish on the couch.
